Documentary and still shot

The documentary I chose to watch was Blackfish. The documentary itself follows multiple killer whales but one that was the most focused on went by the name of Tilikum. The documentary talks about whales that are free and whales that are in captivity. At some points in the documentary they show short clips of whales in the wild and how friendly they are, they swim in packs together and are not harmful when they see people. In the still image is a picture of the main killer whale Tilikum and how he is playing along with his trainers and not causing any harm. This is a powerful picture because it shows such a big animal of a different spices and how it is able to interact and learn. People believe they are one of the most dangerous animals, yet there is video evidence that they can be playful as well.

Jiro Dreams of Sushi still shot

For this assignment, I chose to watch and analyze the documentary, Jiro Dreams of Sushi.  The documentary is about an older gentleman who opened his own high-class sushi restaurant as a young man.  He is very motivated to achieve perfection and works almost every day, making rare exceptions for holidays and attending funerals.  The still photo I took from the movie, shows Jiro in an emotional state on the train, after answering a question. In this scene, Jiro tells the interviewer about leaving home at the age of 7 and never seeing his father again.  Jiro is showing childhood pictures to the interviewer and the tone of his voice sets a very emotional mood in the scene.  You can tell that leaving home at that age was a life changing experience for him and has likely shaped him into the father and man he is today.  I found this documentary to be fascinating and I was amazed at how much love and hard work this man puts into his business.
