Documentary Log Update - Jessica Guatney

Since last week, I have not filmed very much but I have started to plan my final cut. Some challenges I face are creating an overarching theme and a meaning to the documentary. Some successes I have include using a high-definition camera and creating an animated interview with the subject. Some discoveries I have made include the intended camera angles in interviewing, the strategies in documentary creation and how to use iMovie. Some disappointments I have had are trying to make my documentary up to par with a real documentary and trying to make everything tie together for one meaning.  This is just a rough cut

  1. Jessica, your rough cut looks awesome! I loved the beginning scene. It is a unique way to start out your interview and gives a cool perspective. I agree with your difficulty of trying to create an overarching theme with the documentary as a whole. It is a little hard to piece things together and make them flow like other documentaries we have watched. In addition, your high definition camera definitely makes a difference. The quality of the whole scene looks great. All in all, to me you seem like you're definitely on the right path. Can't wait to watch the final product!

  2. I really like how your documentary is coming along so far! I think it flows very well and I like the music choice as well. One suggestion I have is to maybe lower the volume of the music during the interview so we can better understand what is being said. Other than that I really liked it!
