Production Log Update
I have collected more than enough of interview footage. I have even learned more about my subject than I had before filming the interview. I have been able to create an overarching theme and I have a general idea of how I would like the finished product to be. However, in order to create this ideal documentary, I need to set aside time to film more relevant b-roll shots, as well as action shots. I want to capture my subject's passion for music. I don't think that still shots of my cat sleeping really display her abilities (even though its pretty adorable). I have archive footage that I hope to find a place to integrate into my interview shots. Things, such as, old coffee shop sets and elementary school musicals from years past. I plan on filming more current action shots as well. Such as, piano playing or shots that portray an average day. Other than a lack of footage, another challenge to arise has been the change in theme. Although, I have been able to create a theme for my documentary, it wasn't my original idea. Originally, I had wanted to capture how unappreciated musical education is in public school, as my subject is an elementary school music teacher. I adapted when I realized that my subject didn't really mind that music was unappreciated because it was something that she was truly passionate for. So, instead, I have chosen to use my documentary to capture what it means to pursue something that one cares for, as opposed to doing something because one believes it will make them monetary success.

Taylor, it seems like your documentary is coming along nicely! I have also learned a lot about my subject during this whole process. I think that including archive footage into your documentary would be a great idea and would make the film much more interesting. I'm sorry you weren't able to stick to your original idea, but it seems to me like what you chose to capture is a great choice! I look forward to seeing your documentary!
