Production Log
My documentary is coming along somewhat well. A challenge I have noted is recording the interview in a dorm room. Often, there are sounds from other people in the hall that make it somewhat difficult to get usable footage with no distracting sounds. I will try to find a quieter location, or wait until later on at night to conduct the interview, when people are not as loud. Another challenge comes from recording on a phone, because the microphone is right next to me (since I am holding the phone). My voice is pretty loud, since I am next to the microphone, while the subject's voice sounds much quieter in comparison, since she is further away from the microphone. To remedy this, I will have her speak louder, while I will speak quieter. Finding other footage is not too difficult, as there are many locations on the ASU campus that provide good shots. Editing the footage should not be too difficult, since I have used Windows Movie Maker before to edit videos, and there isn't a need editing other than cutting and splicing the clips together. The most difficult part of this documentary is figuring out exactly what I want the speaker to talk about, and creating thought-provoking questions that help the subject thoroughly describe their experiences.

A challenge I have also had is recording in the dorms because of the AC system and then people yelling next door. You definitely offer good suggestions to fix your problems though!
